Are you coming?
This one’s got the lot!
Turquoise water, the Great Barrier Reef on your doorstep, coral trout and red emperor coming over the side, and a comfy bed and a cold drink waiting for you back on the island each night.
No roughing it on this trip — we’re basing ourselves at Oasis on Hamilton and heading out on two boats, The Pirate and Moonshine.
Five days in the Whitsundays, a small crew, and the kind of fishing you’ll be talking about for years.
It’s not just about the fish either — it’s a few days off life, a proper laugh with good people, and coming home with a full esky and plenty of stories to go with it. If it’s calling your name, this is it.
The fishing
From the coral reefs and bommies to the blue water out wide, the Whitsundays give you something for every angler — whether it’s your first trip or you’ve been doing this your whole life.
We’ll cover bottom bashing, trolling, jigging and bait fishing, and there’s every chance at a Champion Angler crown by the end of it, so bring your competitive streak.
What you’ll be chasing
- Coral Trout & Red Emperor
- Nannygai, Fingermark & Jewfish
- Spanish Mackerel, Cobia & Long-tail Tuna
- And if we’re lucky — a Sailfish on the troll

The accommodation
Come in off the water to your own self-contained apartment at Oasis on Hamilton.
Tucked up in the palms with pool, full kitchen and a proper bed to stretch out in.
It’s quiet, it’s private, and it’s a short buggy ride from the marina, restaurants, bars and everything the island’s got going on.
The Boats
We’re fishing off two cracking boats for this one — The Pirate and Moonshine — both set up for reef and blue water, with the skippers who know these grounds inside out.
Small crews on each so you’re getting plenty of rod time, not standing in a queue.
Our boats are run by the crew at Topnotch Game Fishing; based in the Whitsundays and anchored at Hamilton Island Marina. Captain Russell and Marlene Hicks have been fishing this region for over a decade, and it shows: both The Pirate and Moonshine are kept to the highest marine standard, and the crew take care of everything so you can just fish.
It’s living on island time and fishing in paradise.
And the adventure doesn’t stop when the reel does. Bring your fresh catch into one of the island’s restaurants and the chefs will cook it up however you like it.
Your Host – Skip (Tracey)
Skip is on a mission to show women what is possible when they back themselves, take the helm, and say yes to adventure.
As the founder and skipper of Team Justagirl — Australia’s first all-women offshore competitive fishing team — Skip has spent years breaking barriers in what has traditionally been a male-dominated sport.
Through her TV series Get Hooked with Team Justagirl (airing in the USA and New Zealand) and Fishing Trips with Skip, she has inspired hundreds of women to step outside their comfort zone and discover they are capable of far more than they ever imagined.
More than just fishing, Skip’s trips are about empowerment, friendship, and giving women the confidence to take up space, take the rod, and take charge of their own adventures.

Itinerary
Day 1 — Sun 29 Nov Arrive Hamilton Island
Fly straight into Hamilton Island — the plane comes in low over the reef and the water, and it’s a hell of a way to start a trip.
We’ll get you settled into Oasis on Hamilton, self-contained apartments up in the Palms with a pool and the views. Afternoon to find your feet and unpack, then we’ll all get together for a welcome dinner and sort out who’s on which boat.
Day 2 — Mon 30 Nov First day on the water
Both boats out early.
Reef and blue water are all right here, so we’ll chase whatever’s firing — drop baits on the bommies for coral trout and reds, or run lures for mackerel and tuna. No two days the same.
Day 3 — Tues 1 Dec Fishing
We mix the crews up so you’re fishing with different faces.
You and your boat decide where you’re headed and what you’re chasing — the reef, the wider grounds, or out chasing a sailfish if the conditions line up.
Day 4 — Wed 2 Dec Last full day
One more crack at it.
By now everyone’s got their eye in, so this is the day for a personal best.
Back in the afternoon to clean the fish, compare notes, and have a drink watching the sun go down over the marina and a presentation night. Who will win the biggest F#@K UP award this trip?
Day 5 — Thu 3 Dec Head home
Breaky, pack your fish boxes and we’ll get you to the airport.
It pays to book an extra bag for your fish — it’s easy to travel home with your catch, and we’ll of course be sticking strictly to bag and boat limits all week.
Not ready to leave? I can help you sort an extra night or two on the island.
This Is Going to Be Awesome – see you on Hamilton!
No roughing it, no crowds — just world-class reef fishing by day, island life by night, and a week with good people you’ll be talking about long after the tan’s faded.
Spots are limited across the two boats.
If it’s calling your name, just reply “I’m in” and I’ll get your booking form sent through
$4,290 per person includes all activities, accommodation, fishing charters and equipment.
Extras: alcohol and airfares to and from Hamilton.
Skip recommends you take out travel insurance in case the weather gets in the way.
